Harry Potter meme

dragonborn:

So, I’ve been doing this Game of Thrones meme and I decided that it was something I actually enjoyed doing (compared to the 30 day memes. They’re just so long that I never complete them). Apparently there isn’t a Harry Potter one so I decided to make one myself. Hopefully you guys like it.

Any tips for an aspiring editor?

Hi there! Sorry this took me a little while to get to. I promise I wasn’t ignoring you. Here is my main advice:

  • Practice, practice, practice. Even if you don’t post what you end up making, you need to try out a ton of different techniques to find your own style.
  • Your own style is important. What makes your work stand out is when you have your own touch that others recognize you by. Don’t feel like you need your work to replicate others in whatever fandom you’re in.
  • But saying that, it is best if it does still fit in with your fandom, because if you are aiming for reblogs, that is what will get it reblogs.
  • Overall though, you make edits for you. Not for other people. Do what makes you happy, and if others don’t reblog your stuff but you still love your editing style. Keep doing it your way! It isn’t all about reblogs, but that is what some people do focus on. There is no right or wrong way to focus on edits, you just have to find your own niche.
  • If you don’t have photoshop, I recommend playing with sites such as PicMonkey, Pixlr, and BeFunky. I use Pixlr and BeFunky most. There are also other sites out there, but you have to play around with them and understand how they work before you are able to make a variety of edits.
  • If you have photoshop, then play around with that! Just don’t feel like you have to have photoshop to make good edits. I don’t use photoshop, and I know plenty of others that don’t, and their edits are always beautiful!
  • Last but not least, you should get a Pinterest or WeHeartIt account to save photos on and find photos for your edits. It is very helpful, and it helps you organize the photos for certain photos, etc. and makes everything easier to find!
