1. Flesh and Bone – The Killers

Somewhere outside that finish line, I square up and break through the chains.

Cut from the cloth of a flag that bears the name “Battle Born".

2. Gold, Guns, Girls – Metric

I don’t wanna bend, let the bad girls bend.

Is it every gonna be enough?

3. Titanium – David Guetta f. Sia

You shoot me down, but I won’t fall, I am titanium.

4. We’re Here to Save the Day – The Constellations

We’re the stars that shine so bright, the superstars.

We’re not afraid to say, we’re here to save the day.

5. Fire Escape – Civil Twilight

There is a war between the cold out there and the fire within.

I know that we’re alive, I know that we can dive right into the thick of it.

Oh how I struggled in vain to solve this riddle with my brain,

When the answers in my hands.  I’m gonna move you around.

They want to take our light, make us fight, never cry for the ones you love.

I’ll be your warrior, your warrior.

8. Song 2 – Blur

Yeah, this song would just be fun to fly a fighter jet to.  That’s why it’s here.

9. If I Lose Myself – One Republic

Take us down and we keep trying.

40,000 feet, keep flying.

I can’t say this on Twitter so I’m saying it here. I don’t give a shit about the female empowerment discourse with Captain Marvel and while premiering the trailer, Good Morning America proved my point as to why. I fully recognize that Marvels first female led film is significant but I am no longer wasting my energy on narratives that serve white women and girls before anyone else. GMA celebrated STEM students with the trailer release and when the camera panned over, I saw not a single Black or Brown kid. So I’m good on the discourse.

My dream, my victory is a Shuri led Black Panther Panther film and celebration and support of Black women and girls in STEM. That’s what I’m saving my energy for.

I just want to enjoy Captain Marvel casually and escape the GRRRL PWR discussions as best as I can. I don’t wanna fake being excited for it for that reason.

AND it’s made worse by the fact that Monica Rambeau, a Black woman, was the first female Captain Marvel, not Carol Danvers. And this movie hasn’t proved to me yet that Monica will be anything more than a footnote so I don’t caaaaaaaare about no GRRRL PWR.

Just gimme the movie lol

In case you missed it, the EW exclusive photos dropped for Captain Marvel today!!! I had some spare time and lots of inspiration, so I created some icons from one of the photos. These are my first icons, so I was just messing around, but please feel free to use them! I’d really appreciate if you share and give me some comments and suggestions as well 🙂

(icons under the cut, feel free to request a color/texture!)
